Il rifugio Carè Alto “Dante Ongari” si trova a 2459 m s.l.m nel gruppo dell’Adamello, sul lungo crestone est del Carè Alto.

The “Carè Alto Dante Ongari” hut is located at 2459 m above sea level in the Adamello group, on the eastern edge of Caré Alto.

La nostra escursione per il rifugio ha inizio nella val di Borzago a Pian della Sega ( dalla frazione Pelugo di Spiazzo, dopo il paese di Tione di Trento, c’è la deviazione) dove si trova un ampio parcheggio, il percorso si snoda dapprima nel bosco , si supera il fiume attraverso un ponticello in legno per poi inerpicarsi in salita in modo deciso fino al rifugio, una salita impegnativa poichè sia tratta di 1200mt di dislivello, e per chi conosce l’Adamello sà che la zona è “spaccagambe”, non si trova un sentiero ma è ben segnalata la via da seguire sulle pietre che si trovano lungo il tragitto. Il panorama che ci accompagna è molto bello e vario, ci sono cascate e ruscelli ovunque.

Our excursion to the refuge begins in the valley of Borzago at Pian della Sega (from the Pelugo di Spiazzo hamlet, after the town of Tione di Trento, there is the deviation) where there is a large parking lot, the path is first forest, cross the river through a wooden jumper and then climb uphill until it reaches the refuge, a challenging climb as it is 1200mt of altitude difference, and for those who know Adamello that the area is “very hard for the legs” there is no path, but it is well marked the way to follow the stones that are along the way. The panorama that accompanies us is very nice and varied, there are waterfalls and streams everywhere.

Dopo circa due ore di cammino, il rifugio si presente sopra di noi, maestoso. Circondato dalle nuvole. Sembra sia li’ a due passi ma sono gli ultimi e i piu’ difficili per la stanchezza delle gambe, ci facciamo forza e con estrema soddisfazione lo raggiungiamo nei tempi previsti , prima che ci sorprenda la pioggia preannunciata per il primo pomeriggio. (la sera c’è stata anche una breve nevicata)

After about two hours of walking, the hut stands above us, majestic. Surrounded by clouds. It seems like they are two steps away, but they are the last and the most difficult for the tiredness of the legs, we are strong and with extreme satisfaction we reach it within the expected times, before the precipitation announced for the first afternoon. (in the evening there was also a short snowfall)

Abbiamo prenotato per la notte cosi’ ci possiamo godere con calma il nostro weekend in quota, il panorama superlativo, il silezio, la pace, la serenità che offre …

Niky è entusiasta , ha trovato un amico con il quale giocare, si chiama Argo, un giocherellone come lei… che fortuna trovare un amico in quota!

Our dog Niky is excited, has found a friend with whom to play, is called Argo, a naughty as she … who is fortunate to find a friend at a height!

Durante la gustosa (e meritata) cena abbiamo occasione di conversare con altri escursionisti, è sempre piacevole condividere le proprie esperienze con gli altri, non ci accorgiamo nemmeno del tempo che passa e si fà l’ora di andare a dormire, in rifugio ci si sveglia sempre presto, c’è un gruppo che l’indomani andrà sul ghiacciaio e partirà alle 5, per fortuna noi abbiamo piu’ tempo per dormire e non abbiamo orari. Il giorno seguente, dopo colazione, saliamo verso la bocchetta del cannone per ammirare il panorama, un momento di meditazione in questi luoghi dove sono caduti tanti soldati e parecchi sono morti per il freddo è d’obbligo…. prima d’imboccare il sentiero per il rientro, lasciando anche qui un pezzo del nostro cuore, un weekend in quota ci regala sempre moltissime emozioni.

During the tasty (and well-deserved) dinner we have an opportunity to converse with other hikers, it is always nice to share their experiences with others, we do not even notice the time that passes and it is time to go to sleep, Wake up always early, there is a group that will go to the glacier the next day and will leave at 5 o’clock, we’re lucky to have more time to sleep and we do not have timetables. The next day, after breakfast, we go to the cannon to see the panorama, a moment of meditation in these places where so many soldiers have fallen and many have died for the cold is obligatory …. before embarking on the a path for the return, leaving here a piece of our heart, a weekend at high altitude always gives us lots of emotions.
